High-tech incubators (HTIs) are specialised start-up centres whose aim is to remove the hurdles that young companies face. The focus is on knowledge-based companies that utilise research results.
The founders of these companies are often scientists who face numerous challenges when they want to set up a company. For first-time founders, the challenges are often overwhelming and they do not have the time to focus on their core competences.
This is where incubators come into play. They offer training programmes to overcome precisely these challenges.
The role of HTIs is to connect potential founders who don't know how to realise their ideas with experienced professionals. We have the expertise to solve these problems and help founders realise their full potential. HTIs thus make a decisive contribution to turning scientific findings into marketable products and services.
‘Our benchmark for success is the development of our start-ups - we therefore have a strong interest in ensuring that the companies we support are also successful.’
Jan Fischer - Managing Director of BioIntelligence
BioIntelligence GmbH was founded in January 2022 with a clear vision: To be the driving force that supports start-ups in the fields of biotechnology, life sciences and medical technology, thus promoting a dynamic ecosystem.
Our parent company, the non-profit association BioDigit e.V., stands for the symbiosis of biology and digitalisation and served as our inspiration and guide.
Jan Fischer, our Managing Director, previously worked at Prof. Heiden's institute (Institute for Innovation Research, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship), where he dealt intensively with innovation and entrepreneurship from an academic perspective. With the introduction of a new funding guideline by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, they saw an opportunity not only to deepen this knowledge academically, but also to apply it practically. This led to the decision to found a private company.
The foundation was largely initiated by the BioDigit association board, with Prof. Heiden, Prof. Scheper and Dr. Baumfalk being particularly involved. Prof Heiden and Dr. Baumfalk continue to support us as part of our Steering Committee and provide us and the start-ups we support with advice and assistance.
A decisive step in our founding history was the financial support we received from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs in July 2022. This enabled us to realise our vision and actively contribute to the development of innovative start-ups. As a result, we were able to support 14 start-ups with up to 200,000 euros per project in the first round of financing and raise around 4.7 million euros.
The term ‘bio’ in BioIntelligence stands for biological materials and principles that will play a central role in many areas in the future. This development, which we refer to as ‘biologisation’, is just as important for the economy as digitalisation. ‘Intelligence’ complements our concept and stands for intelligent value and active ingredients that are developed through biotechnology.
Transparent communication at eye level promotes trust and a strong community, which forms the basis for our sustainable success. We believe that open and honest communication is the key to successful partnerships and projects. By communicating clearly and comprehensibly, we avoid misunderstandings and create an environment in which everyone involved feels comfortable and heard. Through regular dialogue and feedback, we ensure that everyone is on the same page and working together to achieve our goals.
Commitment is particularly important to us: we offer realistic and realisable support. We avoid making empty promises and concentrate on reliably honouring our commitments. This commitment creates trust among our start-ups. We are also committed in our dealings with our network partners. We know that trust and reliability are the basis for successful collaboration. This creates a culture of mutual respect and reliability.
Our dealings are characterised by appreciation, openness and respect - both within our team and in cooperation with our partners. We never keep anyone waiting and are always honest and reliable. If we cannot or do not want to do something, we communicate this clearly and transparently. We are aware of our responsibility and handle it with care. Through this respectful cooperation, we promote a positive working environment and strengthen relationships with our partners.
Our enthusiasm drives us to continuously redefine the limits of what is possible in biotech, medtech and life sciences. We act quickly and purposefully to develop and successfully implement innovative solutions. Through planning and coordination within our team, we ensure that we achieve our goals. Our focus is on overcoming obstacles and optimising the use of resources. We always remain flexible and adaptable so that we can react quickly to changing challenges.
At BioIntelligence, we work in a young and dynamic team that is characterised by exceptional passion and commitment. Our goal is to turn challenges into significant successes for our founders and partners and to overcome every obstacle with confidence and creativity.
Our work environment is characterised by trust and openness, allowing each team member to freely express their ideas and count on support. We value a culture of diversity and foster open communication where successes and contributions are recognised and celebrated.
This positive and supportive atmosphere plays a key role in keeping motivation and satisfaction high in our team. We not only value professional achievement, but also have great fun together, which contributes to a harmonious and inspiring working environment.
Our corporate culture promotes both personal responsibility and self-organisation without relying on a hierarchical top-down structure. Everyone in the team has the freedom to pursue individual topics and goals while we work together towards our overarching objectives.
This flexible and supportive approach allows each team member to fulfil their role to the full and experience strong team cohesion. The excellent personal relationships within the team help to ensure that working for us is not only effective, but also particularly enjoyable and fun.
Working at BioIntelligence means being part of a dedicated and creative team working in a modern and dynamic environment. This exciting working environment encourages the development of innovative solutions that address important challenges of the future and ensures that we approach our work with enthusiasm and joy every day.
