Clear Goals Instead of Vague Visions: Milestone Planning in the BioIntelligence Programme
As part of an online workshop, the start-ups in the BioIntelligence programme came together to focus on a key topic in early-stage venture development: milestone planning. The aim of the session was to translate ambitious visions into concrete, realistic and well-structured steps for the months ahead.
At the centre of the discussion was the question of what makes a good milestone and how progress can be structured in a way that provides real orientation in day-to-day work. Rather than working with vague ambitions, the session focused on defining clear development steps that teams can use as strategic reference points. An important framework in this context was the SMART principle, which helps formulate goals that are specific, measurable, attractive, realistic and time-bound.
Especially in early-stage development, a clear milestone structure can help start-ups set priorities, make progress more visible and build a foundation for next steps such as funding applications, partnerships or financing rounds. The workshop once again showed how important it is to connect vision and implementation at an early stage.
Our thanks go to all participating teams for the engaged discussions and the practical insights they shared throughout the session.
